Behind the Scenes: Organizing Genki Fest 2024

Ever wonder what it takes to pull off a festival as epic as Genki Fest? Well, buckle up, because we're about to take you on a whirlwind tour behind the scenes!

First things first: the theme. This year, we're going full samurai, baby! Why? Because who doesn't love the idea of strutting around in awesome armor and living by a code of honor? (Plus, it gives us an excuse to yell "For honor!" at random intervals.) The team dove headfirst into samurai lore, binge-watching historical dramas and probably eating way too much sushi in the name of "research."

Now, let's talk about our dream team. The folks at Own-Knee-Chan Cafe are the ringmasters of this circus, juggling vendors, workshops, and probably a few actual swords (safely, we hope). They're fueled by an unhealthy amount of coffee and a burning passion for all things Japan.

Enter the Nagaland Anime Junkies, our resident otaku experts. These guys can spot a Naruto reference from a mile away and are the secret weapon in making sure our fest stays true to its anime roots. They're also the ones responsible for convincing that one friend to finally cosplay as their favorite character. You know who you are!

And let's not forget our tech wizards from Kartys Digital Academy in Pune. They're the reason you can tweet about the festival without your phone exploding. They're also cooking up some mind-bending VR experiences that'll make you feel like you've stepped into feudal Japan (minus the dysentery, thankfully).

Of course, no event this big comes without its share of headaches. There's been plenty of late-night planning sessions, last-minute panic over forgotten details, and at least one incident involving a misplaced samurai helmet. But through it all, our team's battle cry has been "For the love of anime!" (and maybe a few words we can't print here).

As we count down to July 19th and 20th, the excitement is reaching fever pitch. Stages are being built, cosplay outfits are getting their final touches, and somewhere, someone is practicing their best samurai stance in the mirror.
